winning the fight against infant loss and childhood life threatening illnesses

tyler nicole foundation incorporated (tnfi)

The Tyler Nicole Foundation was organized for the purpose of providing aid, assistance, counseling, education and support for families who have experienced infant loss and childhood life threatening illness. This will include miscarriages, deaths caused by infants born prematurely, stillborn births, abortions, childhood illnesses, etc. We will provide services including but not limited to bedside assistance, funeral arrangements, counseling, etc. in an attempt to help ease the burden on the parents and their families, financial and otherwise.

Our goal is to help ease the grieving process in any way so that the families can better cope with their loss, and get on with their lives. We will also help parents that have high risk pregnancies, and children with illnesses link them to the help they need as to help them get through so that they can have a healthy child. The organization will help educate and bring about public awareness to the enormity of the widespread problems of infant loss, premature births, problems during pregnancy, and childhood illnesses.

We will like to make the public aware of the importance of research, the critical need for prenatal care, the need for referrals to high risk pregnancy doctors, education, etc. to help lower the mortality rate. This can be done through the staging of social events, classes, workshops, exhibitions, recreational entertainment, etc., designed to socialize and familiarize the American people with the plight of infant loss.

Infant Loss

This organization is committed to helping with the plight of infant loss. According to statistics, each year, there are approximately 4 million pregnancies in the U. S. of which 1 million pregnancies will result in a loss. The main causes are miscarriage, stillbirth, death caused by prematurity, and Sudden Infant Death syndrome. After such a loss families find it difficult to cope. The type of emotions that one could feel range from disbelief, anger, sadness, guilt, and depression. Many people grieve in silence because most of the people around them do not realize what the family is going through. They do not realize what an affect the loss is having on the family. Losing a child this way is devastating. It’s hard for the families to get the support that is needed when the people around them have never seen, or held the child. The Tyler Nicole Foundation feels that the lives of these children should be recognized no matter how small or brief.

childhood life threatening illnesses

When the child’s illness is life threatening it has a devastating impact on the parents and other family members. Children with life threatening illnesses make up approximately 14% of children and youth in the United States. There are issues that can occur when a caregiver has to take care of a child with a life threatening illness.  Families deal with a multitude of issues including an inability to travel, not being able to plan for the future because of their child’s illness, or feelings of fatigue and giving up things due to child’s illness. It is also important for family members to have access to psychosocial services which is vital in helping them to cope with their situation.  Our ultimate goal is to help families learn how to deal with their situation in order for them to learn how to lessen the negative impacts that can occur when caring for a child with a life threatening illness.
